Scientific research projects

In 1999 ~ 2002, Capital Normal University totally assumed 10 projects and 2 sub-topic of the state 863 plan, 6 sub-topics of the "973" plan, 2 state scientific and technical brainstorm projects, 2 sub-topics of the state climbing plan, 1 project of the national fund for excellent youth, 1 project of the trans-century excellent cultivation plan of the Ministry of Education, 12 projects planned by the Ministry of Education for the 10th five-year plan, 54 projects of the Ministry of Education, 9 projects of the subsidy plan for backbone teachers of the Ministry of Education, 2 national colleges and universities excellent backbone teachers projects of the Ministry of Education, 42 projects of the National Natural Science Fund, 30 projects of the National Social Science Fund, as well as 260 Beijing municipal-level scientific research projects.

Subject construction

To become a domestic top ranking teaching and scientific research integrated normal university, Capital Normal University has formed a subject layout, in which art and science subjects are backbone and education, foreign languages, and art are characteristic subjects.

I. Overall layout of subject construction
In subject construction planning, the university has studied out an overall layout comprising four layers and five levels according to the degree points.

The 1st layer: 6 municipal key subjects (all are doctor points)
The 2nd layer: 4 school-level key subjects (all are doctor points)

The 3rd layer: 17 school-level key construction subjects
The 4th layer: 22 school-level key development subjects.

II. Subject construction details
The subjects in the above four layers separately belong to 61 Grade II and 20 Grade I subjects. Their characteristics are summarized as follows:

1. Preferential development subjects
As the core subject of the university, education plays a very important role in the construction and development of the school. Setting out from modern education ideas, holding on the basic direction of serving the education especially the basic education of the capital, the university will take much pain to construct and develop with preference the education subject and the closely correlated psychology subject, hoping to make them reach the top level among domestic normal colleges and universities, and have some influences on the international academic circle in certain fields.

2. Predominant subjects
The predominant subjects not only include those ones provided with traditional advantages, but also include those subjects that have been developed rapidly and begun showing advantages in the recent years.

3. Characteristic subject
Art and foreign languages and literatures are the traditional characteristic subjects of the university. Many years of construction, especially the rapid development in the recent years, have made them change greatly. Provided with more enriched connotations, they have obvious advantages among the colleges and universities of the same kind, and each of them has its own bright spots.

4. Subjects with cross basis and favorable development prospect
As a university of a relatively strong comprehensibility and multiple subjects, Capital Normal University has initially formed some subjects with cross basis and favorable development prospects, and gradually established some new characteristics.

As a university under the jurisdiction of Beijing municipality, Capital Normal University always persists on the target of serving the basic education and social economic construction of the capital. Taking the three functions, talent cultivation, scientific research, and social service as its own tasks, the university is marching toward the road of serving social development and economic construction in an all-around way.
