The college possesses one academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Sciences, five professors, 20 associate professors. Teachers with Ph.D degree account for 80 percent of all, with 7 being post-Ph.D. There sets up Department of Geography, Department of Tourism, Department of Geographical Information System, 3S Engineering Technological Center and Environmental and Resource Research Center. It has been appointed by Beijing Municipal Tourism Bureau to be one of the training orgnisation for guide qualification.

Presently, there are three tutors of post- Ph.D in the college who enroll PhD and post-Ph.D for environmental remote sensing, geographical information system, ecological and environmental regulation and control, relying on post graduate college with The Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Agricultural Science. Moreover, it has 11 tutors of Ph.D, and enrolls master in Geographical Education Science, Resource Development and Regional Development, Ecological Environmental Regulation and Construction, Global Environmental Variation and Cartography and Geographical Information System.

The college presides over one item of "863 Project", three sub-items of "973" and "863 Project", five projects funded by State Natural Science Fund, and takes responsibility for or participates in more than 30 projects initiated by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Natural Resources, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Beijing Municipality.
The college establishes Beijing Municipal Key Lab for resource environment and geographical information system as well as joint lab got space information technology (jointly constructed by Lenova Digital Capital Normal University). It enjoys a distinct feature and has formed its own technological advantages in digital photograph measurement and sensing, research on 3s technology applied to water and soil resources environment, ecological environment regulation and control, regional environment evolution and measurement method study.
