Department of Physics
The Department of Physics owns a staff member of 61, including
14 professors, 34 associate professors as well as senior engineering
lab technicians, 90 tutors of master post-graduate candidates,
four specially-invited professors (including one academician
of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, two research fellows of
Physics Institution under the Chinese Academy of Sciences,
one specially-invited professor from USA Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute).
Since its establishment, the department has cultivated a total
number of 4424 graduates and 128 post graduates.
Three majors are available for MSC, i.e. Optics, Course and
Teaching Theory, History of Science and Technology (History
of Physics). In addition, majors of Communication and Information
System are also available for new students.
Under the department, there are currently Teaching & Research
Section of General Physics, Teaching & Research Section
of Theoretical Physical, Teaching & Research Section of
Experimental Physics, Teaching & Research Section of Teaching
and Optical Academic Institution and Research Section of Natural
Science History. It also possesses teaching labs and over
10 types of scientific research labs, namely, General Physics
Lab, Contemporary Physics Lab, Demonstration Lab, Middle-school
Physics Lab as well as two computer rooms (140 seats totally),
which is capable of satisfying needs in teaching and students'
outside learning and activities. To satisfy the requirement
of professional teaching and research in Optical Information
Science and Technology, construction of optical information
technology lab, sensing technology lab, laser technology lab,
communication technology lab and auto electronic design lab
are underway to offer instruction and practice sites for students.
The Department of Physics possesses teaching and research
sections involving General Physics, Theoretical Physics, Experimental
Physics, Physical Teaching Methodology and Physics History,
teaching labs and 10 plus scientific research labs regarding
general physics experiment, contemporary physics experiment
and physical demonstration experiment as well as a reading
room, two computer rooms. Particularly, Nanometer Optical
Electronic Lab is a key lab at Beijing Municipality level.
