Department of Chemistry

Great changes have taken place in the Department of Chemistry. Under the leadership of CPC Committee of CNU, all staff members, by seizing the opportunity of the construction of "211 Project", will make progress in teacher construction, specialty arrangement, discipline improvement, teaching and scientific research level, reform on educational teaching, lab construction and talent training through joint efforts. All construction items passed the acceptance smoothly.

At present, the department has set up several teaching and research sections concerning inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, analytic chemistry, physical chemistry, teaching method and chemical industry. There are 72 staff members in the department with five professors, 23 associate professors, 10 lecturers, nine senior lab technicians, and 13 lab technicians. Now teachers and students are striving hard to realize the goal set for the 10th Five Year Plan and to turn the Department into a first class among nationwide colleges and universities.

At present, there is one externally invited academician, six professors and research fellows, 24 associate professors, eight lecturers, and 27 senior and medium lab technicians, including 11 Ph.D and post-Ph.D, one tutor of Ph.D, 10 tutors of post-graduate candidates. With authorization qualification for Master's degree, the department enrolls graduate students in three majors plus 9 related fields of analytical chemistry, physical chemistry and chemistry education. The department has set up six teaching and research sections, as well as fundamental chemistry lab (for teaching), contemporary chemistry open lab (for scientific research), contemporary education technology and network lab and analytical test center. It owns one key constructive project at Beijing Municipality-level and university-level respectively, one university-level key lab, and has undertaken several projects funded by State Natural Fund, Beijing key projects, Beijing Natural Fund and Ministry of Education.
