Teaching achievements

The appraisal of excellent teaching achievement prize is an important measure for the university to promote educational reorganization and improve teaching quality. Since 1989, the Ministry of Education has carried out appraisal of the excellent teaching achievement prize in colleges and universities all over the country once every four years, and 4 times have been accomplished up to now.

To continuously push out competitive projects to join in the appraisal of municipal-level and state-level excellent teaching achievement prizes, Capital Normal University has carried out the selection of school-level excellent teaching achievement once every two years since 1989. Through many years of unremitting hard work, the university has made enriched achievements. Up to the end of 2002, the university has gained the first prize and the second prize of state-level excellent teaching achievement respectively for 1 and 3 times, Beijing municipal excellent teaching achievement prize 33 times, and school-level excellent teaching achievement prize 101 times. Among the prizes, the Exploitation and Practice of Opening Sex Health Courses in Higher Normal Schools presided over by Professor Gao Dewei won the first prize of state-level excellent teaching achievement in 1997, breaking the zero of the colleges and universities under the jurisdiction of Beijing Municipality.

The university has also studied out new rewarding policies and increased the rewarding strength to encourage the teachers to make more effort in educational reorganization. For the projects that win the state-level special prize, first prize or second prize, the university will provide a matching bonus respectively 8, 5 or 3 times the prize granted by the Ministry of Education.

For the purpose of improving the overall teaching quality in an all-around way, the university has started course construction since 1986, worked out the course construction development plans for the 8th, the 9th and the 10th five year plan in succession, and issued the Work Rule for Course Construction of Capital Normal University and the Evaluation (Acceptance) Indexes System for Course Construction of Capital Normal University. Up to the beginning of 2003, 121 courses have passed the evaluation, and among them 50 are appraised as excellent. In 2003, 150 more courses including 18 elaborate ones will be constructed. The overall goal of the university is to accomplish the construction of compulsory courses of all specialties and built up a batch of influential and high quality elaborate courses by the end of the 10th five-year plan.


All the above achievements enable us to believe that, certainly Capital Normal University will become a top-ranking teaching & research integrated normal university of the country by the end of the 10th five-year plan.
