Distance education direction
Characteristics in research: to build up a distance education
subject theoretical system with originally created Chinese characteristics,
carry out international comparative study of distance education
theories and practices, and make up the vacancy of domestic education
studies. The key research topics include construction of the basic
theory of distance education, international comparative study of
distance education, distance educational economy, research on distance
education development strategy, and construction of distance education
resource library etc. The research achievements will have directive
meaning in the decision and practice of modern distance education
works of our country, and will expand the influence of China's distance
education theory and practice in the world.
About the tutors: the subject leader of this direction is
Professor Ding Xingfu, who is a specially employed professor of
our university, the Ministry of Education's expert advisor in distance
education, as well as Tsinghua University and Peking University's
part-time professor and tutor for doctoral students. Doc. Ding has
presided over and participated in several state-level topics related
to distance education in the 7th, 8th and 9th five-plan national
social science projects, and key topics of the Ministry of Education
as well as international cooperation projects, and have made lots
of achievements, such as the state key topics, Research on the Distance
education that Uses Electronic Communication Technology as the Main
Teaching Means and Chinese Education Cyclopaedia Education Technology·Distance
education Part, the Ministry of Education's key topic: Reform of
the Teaching Contents and Course System of Education Technology
Specialty toward the 21st Century, and so on. Since 1997, he has
published over 10 monographs, translations and articles at home
and abroad, for example, A Comparative Study of Higher Distance
Education Systems in Australia and China, Development and Research
of Overseas Distance education, Distance education, Distance education
Studies, Network Education: A New Angle of View for Teaching and
Cognition Development, and has published nearly one hundred Chinese
or English articles or translated articles in domestic and foreign
journals, such as Modern Distance Education Engineering Facing New
Century in China, Import Topics in the Development and Innovation
of Modern Open Distance Education, Information Technology Revolution,
Education Globalization and Long Distance Open Learning, Distance
Educational Economy Studies and Main Achievements, The Spring &
Autumn Period of Network Education and Its Countermeasures - On
the Responding Model and Eastern Model That Directs Network Education
Teaching to Gain Success, Ten Challenges Faced by Network Distance
Education of Colleges and Universities, and so on. Now, the professor
is presiding over a key topic of the 10th five-year national education
plan: Research on Construction of the Distance Education Theoretical
System with Chinese Characteristics as well as Educational reorganization
Experiment of Teacher, Basic Education Courses and Information Technology
Integration, and 1 state-level topic of the 10th five year plan
and key topic of Beijing Municipal 10th five-year plan: Research
on Design and Application of Middle School Mathematics, Physics
and Chemistry Intelligent Teaching Platform as well as Teaching
Pattern Innovation. The direction also has two other tutors, prof.
Xie Weihe and associate prof. Jiang Guozhen.
Expected targets:
(1) To structure and develop a theoretical system of distance education
subject with originally created Chinese characteristics, and publish
related articles, monographs and translations;
(2) To carry out systematic international comparative study on modern
distance education, and produce comparative study reports and topic
summary reports of related countries, topics and cases;
(3) To carry through researches on network distance educational
economy, to study cost benefit accounting & analysis, scale
economy running, market mechanism, school-enterprise cooperation,
industrial operation and other important realistic topics, and write
research reports and monographs.
(4) To perform investigation and research on the development strategies
for the modern distance education engineering of our country, to
provide references for decision making.
(5) To organize the construction of distance education digital resource
library, to provide socialized online services for distance education
teaching and scientific research.
Intelligent teaching system direction
Characteristics in research: to carry out trans-subject comprehensive
studies in the fields such as education, psychology, information
technology and education technology, use the influence of learner's
multidimensional psychological factors on learning effect in network
learning environment as the fundamental theory, research and develop
excellent digital learning resources as the base, use artificial
intelligence, knowledge engineering, expert system and other technologies
as the support, and the principles of informationized teaching design
as the reference, and study intelligent network teaching system
platform.
About the tutors: the subject leader of this direction is
Professor Wang Lu. The professor has made a lot of achievements
in aspects of basic theory, applied basic studies, applied research
and technology development of several province or ministry-level
topics presided over by him, and published over 30 articles in fields
of applied theory and applied basic studies in domestic and foreign
core journals. Among them, the article Relation Model-based Knowledge
Representation in ITS System was included in USA CA/SA in 2001,
5 articles including Discussion on the Correlation between Student's
Personality Factors and Distance Education, and A Study on the Correlation
between Learner's Characteristics and CMC-based Exchange etc are
issued in retrieval source journals of CSSCI, and 3 articles including
A Study on Knowledge Representation and Consequence of Fuzzy Relation-based
Database in ITS are published in retrieval source journals of EI.
In the aspect of digital teaching resource construction, he has
won the 1999 Beijing Municipal Third Prize for Scientific and Technological
Advancement and the 1997 State Commission of Education the 2nd National
Colleges and Universities Excellent Computer Aid Teaching Software
Second Prize by the multimedia software Computer Composition Principle,
and Quickly Learn Chinese Bopomofo. In the aspect of intelligent
teaching system R&D, the Chinese Level Test (HSK) Intelligent
Network Learning Aid System (Network School) passed the province/ministry-level
technical appraisal in 2001, and the appraisal conclusion is, international
advanced; the Capital Normal University Virtual Learning Community
Intelligent Network Teaching Support Platform passed the province/ministry-level
technical appraisal in 2003, and the conclusion is, international
advanced; and the Study and Practice of Computer and Network Learning
Support Environment gained the 2000 Beijing Municipal Excellent
Teaching Achievement Second Prize. Additionally, there are also
two other tutors, associate professor Yang Hui, and associate professor
Huai Heling.
Expected targets:
(1) To carry out basic theoretical studies of intelligent teaching
system, and structure the student psychological factor model of
network learning;
(2) To research and realize the prototype of individualized courseware
generating system;
(3) To establish and improve intelligent network teaching support
platform, carry out educational reorganization experimental studies
of the fundamental education in primary and middle schools, promote
the integration of information technology and subject course teaching,
and produce a series of digital campus intelligent teaching system
products.
Distance education equipment and technology direction
Characteristics in research: organically combine electronic
information technologies (electronic technology, communication technology,
and self-control technology) with education technology, education,
educational psychology and ergonomics to research teaching environment
provided with advanced learning theories and advanced technologies,
and develop corresponding teaching equipments.
About the tutors: the subject leader of this direction is
professor Ai Lun. The professor has made a lot of achievements in
aspects of basic theory and applied technology development etc of
several province/ministry-level topics presided over by him, and
has published over 40 articles of applied basic studies in domestic
and foreign core journals. In the aspect of electronic information
technology, he has published Common Spoken Chinese Education & Computer
Phonetic Recognition and other articles, which have been included
in ISTP. In the aspect of applied basic study of education technology,
he has published several books (e.g., Digital TV Program Manufacturing)
and a good many articles (e.g., Computer Aid Manufacturing of Teaching
Audio Tape). In the aspect of development of applied technology,
he has designed and developed multimedia classroom central control
system, network computer room IC card intelligent management system,
network computer room video broadcast teaching system, TI graphic
calculator-based scientific experiment automatic data processing
system, and other software/hardware aid teaching systems, which
have been widely applied in teaching and have received great social
benefits and economic benefits. Besides, there are also two tutors,
professor Liu Jingang and associate professor Liu Weiming.
Expected targets:
(1) To carry out educational reorganization experimental research
on the fundamental education in primary and middle schools based
on intelligent knowledge teaching platform, promote the integration
of information technology with subject course teaching, and work
out a series of digital campus intelligent teaching system products;
(2) To research and develop mobile education equipments and virtual
reality experimental teaching system.
Education informationization direction
Characteristics in research: discuss the connotation, standard
and evaluating index system of education informationization, carry
through researches on education informationization planning and
decision making, and research the information technology education
in all kinds of schools of all levels as well as integration of
information technology with course teaching. Based on the middle
school mathematics, physics and chemistry subject course knowledge
intelligent teaching platform designed and developed by Professor
Zhang Jingzhong (academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, specially
employed professor of the Department of Education Technology) and
the virtual leaning society digital learning universal intelligent
support platform of self-owned intelligent property right of the
department, perform ICTs learning environment-based teaching design
and teaching system development, and carry out educational reorganization
experimental researches on the integration of information technology
and subject courses.
About the tutors: the subject leaders of this direction are
professor Ding Xingfu and professor Wang Lu. Capital Normal University
has started the formulation, organization and implementation of
education informationizaton planning for the 10th five-year plan,
and has received support from the Department of Normal Schools under
the Ministry of Education and from Beijing Municipal Government.
The network teaching support platform ---- Capital Normal University
Virtual Learning Community, which is developed by our department
and is of independent intelligent property rights, gained the second
prize of Beijing Municipal Excellent Teaching Achievements in 2000.
As regard to resource construction, the Capital Normal University
Professor Digital Resource Construction Project has been started
and has made primary achievements. As for the important scientific
research projects presided over by Professor Ding Xingfu, such as
the 10th five-year plan national education planning key topic, Research
on Construction of the Distance Education Theoretical System with
Chinese Characteristics as well as Educational reorganization Experimental
Research on the Integration of Teachers with Basic Education Courses
and Information Technology, and the state-level topic of the 10th
five-year plan and key topic of Beijing Municipal 10th Five-Year
Plan: Research on Design and Application of Middle School Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry Intelligent Teaching Platform as well as Innovation
of Teaching Patterns, schools in Beijing and other regions are being
organized to carry out educational reorganization experimental studies.
